Using of game theory to optimise cooperation

In this project we are applying economic games as well as classic behavioural ecology to measure cooperation levels and the main processes influencing cooperative behaviour in real cooperatives formed by riverine populations in Mamiraua region, the Brazilian Amazon. Some demographic and socioecological processes such as kinship structure, repeated interactions, friendship ties and reciprocity are known to promote cooperative behaviours in different ecological conditions. Investigating the mechanisms maintaining cooperation in these established cooperatives will help us to promote conservation through community initiated projects.
