Prof. Dr. Migliano’s group works on hunter-gatherers comparative socioecology to explore the origins of human cooperation, cognition and culture. We work with hunter-gatherers in different countries (The Philippines, Congo and Malaysia) as well as with small scale farming populations Vanuatu and Brazilian Amazon, to understand adaptive variation and invariants in human behavior. We are also involved in cross-species comparisons, exploring culture and behavior in great apes, to understand the roles of human sociality and social structure on the origins of human cumulative culture.
